Welcome to the Central Kitsap Montessori Parents Association.

The Central Kitsap School District Montessori Program will hold its 2009 Parent Information Nights on February 3rd and February 18th from 6:30-8pm at Jackson Park Elementary School Library.

General Meetings will be held March 5th, 2009 (elections) and May 5th, 2009 (Spring Social).

Born of a collaborative effort of parents and public school and Montessori educators, our Montessori program first opened in 1991 with one class including grades 1 through 3 at Jackson Park Elementary School in Bremerton. After eight years at Tracyton Elementary School, we are once again part of Jackson Park Elementary School.

The program has continued to grow, with classrooms being added as interest in the program increased and funding became available. The The Central Kitsap Montessori Program currently has a total of five classrooms and five Montessori Method-trained teachers. Three primary classes (grades 1 through 3) and two intermediate classes (grades 4 through 6) serve approximately 100 students.

Our students come mostly from the Central Kitsap School District and are admitted to the program through a formal application process, which begins with Parents’ Information Nights in February each year.

Our Montessori program is one of only four public school Montessori programs in the State of Washington, although there are more than 200 public school Montessori programs across the nation.

Interested? Please visit our Contact page for more information, and make plans to join us at one of our Parents Information Nights in February.

In the meantime, please use the links on the left to learn more about our program, our parent volunteers, Maria Montessori's educational philosophy, and upcoming events.
